London, Nov. 1 (Reuters): It might have raked in over a million pounds at the UK box office, but the remake of the 1966 classic Alfie is still not attracting as many fans as the original film starring Michael Caine.

Jude Law?s smooth-talking, New York-based Alfie won a place in the top 10 worst remakes in a survey released today. More than 60 per cent of those surveyed by YouGov for online DVD rental firm ScreenSelect.co.uk said they preferred the original Alfie to the recent remake.

In the new film, Law stars as a smooth-talking limousine driver, but the tale that shocked first time round with its cheeky take on easy sex has been moved from swinging London to modern-day Manhattan.

?Our research findings suggest that remakes don't always cut the mustard,? said Alex Chesterman, co-founder of ScreenSelect.co.uk. ?In the case of Alfie, our poll shows that you just can?t beat Caine.?
