Hazaribagh, Nov. 29: Police officers today arrested a 25-year-old youth Naim Singh with 1kg of opium this afternoon on the highway near the aerodrome at Nagwa.
Police officials said the seized opium would amount to Rs 10 lakh in the international market. Based on a tip-off, police nabbed Singh, a resident of Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh, around 2pm when he was waiting on the highway for a ride. He was trying to get out of Hazaribagh and heading towards Barhi and then his hometown.
All Singh had on his person was a jar containing about 5kg of mustard seeds. However, upon checking, the police found opium in a packet in the jar below the mustard seeds. Singh was immediately arrested and brought to the Sadar police station where he admitted that he had bought this opium from Chatra.
