Jamshedpur, March 24: It’s that time of the year when another batch of B-school students will step out into the corporate world to prove their mettle.
The 53rd convocation ceremony of XLRI on March 28 will see 180 students from different streams like business management, personnel management and industrial relations pass out.
Students of executive postgraduate diploma in business management in India, Dubai and Singapore will also be a part of the occasion.
The board of governors of the B-school has decided to bestow the prestigious Jehangir Ghandy Medal for Industrial and Social Peace on chairman of Tata group of companies Ratan N. Tata. The medal will be presented during the convocation ceremony at the Tata auditorium.
Ratan Tata, however, will not be present to receive the award in person but B. Muthuraman, the managing director of Tata Steel, will collect the award on his behalf.
The convocation, which is one of the biggest events in the B-school calendar, will witness presentation of medals for academic excellence and for diplomas to the students.
This year, the convocation will be addressed by O.P. Bhatt, the chairman of State Bank of India. Bhatt is also the chairman of the banking & financial institutions committee of FICCI and member of board of directors for several other companies.
