Ranchi, Sept. 29: Ranchi University will organise a one-day workshop on the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) tomorrow, where about 100 participants from three state universities including its representatives, Vinoba Bhave University (Hazaribagh) and Sidhu-Kanhu University (Dumka) are expected to participate.
University sources, however, said, so far, VBU and SKU authorities have not responded as to how many of their representatives would be attending the workshop tomorrow.
The workshop is being organised to generate awareness about the importance of NAAC accreditation for the colleges and postgraduate departments.
The present NAAC workshop is being organised in the light of UGC?s decision that flow of funds from the government to the university colleges and departments would be directed only after the institutions receives NAAC certification. To expedite the process the Ranchi University has set a December 30 deadline for the colleges and postgraduate departments to get accredited by NAAC.
Bangalore-based NAAC academic consultant B.R. Manjunath arrived here today. He was the first among NAAC experts to arrive in the state capital. Other experts, including former vice-chancellor of West Bengal-based Vidyasagar University, Anand Deb Mukhopadhyaya, Loreto College, Calcutta principal Tina Farias and NAAC expert K.M. Pathak will arrive tomorrow. University sources said Mukhopadhyaya will address the opening technical session on ?Quality Assurance: Need and Relevance? while the second technical session, ?NAAC ? Process of Assessment and Accreditation?, will be addressed by Manjunadh.
The sessions will focus on how the NAAC inspects an institution and the criteria for awarding grades. Another technical session, ?Significance of NAAC process: Views of a Principal of an Accredited College? will be addressed by Farias of Loreto College, Calcutta.
