Woman passenger delivers healthy child at Gomoh station

Hailing from Odisha, Anita Das was travelling along with her husband

Anita Das (21), a resident of Bhadrak in Odisha, gave birth to a child on board New Delhi –Bhubaneshwar Rajdhani Express (22812) at around 6.50 this morning at the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Railway (Gomoh) railway station of Dhanbad.

The birth took place under the supervision of a team of Railway doctors led by, Dr Asim Kumar, Assistant Chief Medical Superintendent of Gomoh. The couple Deepak Mallik and Anita later left for their place along with their newly born child in the same train after the necessary medical check up.

Notably, Anita travelling in AC -2 coach (B-2) with her husband felt labour pain near Barkakana at around 6 am after which co passengers informed the train staff and consequently, S Anil, train superintendent alerted the control room at Gomoh which in turn informed BC Mandal Chief Yard Master of Gomoh. Mandal made all necessary arrangements at the Gomoh Station and reached at the station along with medical team when the train reached their around 6.30 am.

PK Mishra, Public Relation Officer of Dhanbad Division of East Central Railway said, “The woman was provided all necessary medical support, advise and medicines by the medical team at Gomoh Railway station and she left for her place in healthy condition along with her newly born child and husband”
