Jamshedpur, June 4: Which living creature is least affected by radiation? What is the average temperature of earth? What is the name of the pollutant produced by a xerox machine?

If you are left scratching your head, so were the participants at the environment quiz, organised today by Tata Engineering on the eve of World Environment Day.

Each team was named after a river. Rotary Club of Jamshedpur with the name, Narmada, won the competition. Team members Anup Gupta and Prashant Kumar had the upper hand right from the beginning as they notched bonus points in each of the seven rounds to win the contest with 188 points in their kitty.

Arup Chatterji and Pravin Choudhary, who represented the Krishna team finished second with 65 points. Teams, Ganga and Godavri stood third and fourth respectively.

Quiz master Mohit Johri fired environment-related questions at the participants and each time the Rotary team answered correctly.

At the end of the third round, the Rotary team had scored 115 points. In the rapid fire round, Gupta and Kumar reigned supreme. The questions were based on environment laws . Queries related to the various awards won by Tata Engineering also did the rounds. The Rotary team had answers to all questions. The audience were also asked a few questions. Those who gave the correct answers were given prizes. Tata Engineering deputy general manager D. Goswami was the chief guest..

Tata Engineering is organising a number of programmes to observe World environment Day tomorrow. The events include a customary flag hoisting ceremony in front of the general office , followed by tree-planting at different colonies in the Telco township. The programme would conclude with a seminar on environment, to be held in the afternoon.
