Get drenched: Ranchi Club on Wednesday |
So what if the rain god is refusing to be benevolent? Just damn the heat and get drenched and of course dance in a scorcher of a party at Ranchi Club.
Rain Dance, an annual fixture of the club’s celebration calendar, is back on June 2 with a vibrant theme of yellow, white and blue. All 1,200 members of the city’s oldest club are welcome to attend the party that will start at 8pm at the poolside. Calcutta-based DJ will be there too to turn on the heat with cool Bollywood numbers while a number of sumptuous snacks will keep hunger pangs at bay.
President of Ranchi Club Sunil Verma said that they had been organising Rain Dance for the past six years and it had been a huge hit among members. “This year also, we are leaving no stone unturned to make this summer celebrations a grand success. Club members look forward to this event,” Verma said.
Chairperson of entertainment committee of Ranchi Club Jyoti Bajaj could not agree more. “It’s a welcome respite from the oppressive heat. Children have a blast as a number of games are hosted for them,” Bajaj added.
However, those who want to avoid the splash yet have fun can chill out at the dry area of the party zone.
“The poolside will be divided into two parts — wet and dry. We will put up a number of sprinklers at the wet zone to create a rain-like situation. There will be a dry area too, where the guests can relax while listening to good music and munching on delicacies. Both the zones will be done up beautifully with colourful balloons, mainly yellow, blue and white,” Verma said.
Another city club, Ranchi Gymkhana Club, had organised a similar event on May 5, which was also a huge success.
