Jamshedpur, May 19: Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA) will be sending a proposal to Tata Steel to upgrade Keenan Stadium.

Sources said the state cricket body would meet this weekend. They are expected to send the proposal to Tata Steel next week.

The JSCA?s managing committee has approved of the decision to place a proposal to the steel major.

Both the parties will share the cost of improve facilities in the stadium, depending upon Tata Steel?s acceptance of the proposal.

?We are keen to upgrade the stadium through a joint venture with Tata Steel,? said a JSCA official.

The official added that the venue needs to be improved as it has an international reputation. Tata Steel owns Keenan Stadium, which has been the venue for 10 one-day internationals. The company maintains both the grounds and infrastructure.

This is the first time that the cricket body has shown an interest in upgrading the stadium.

Sources revealed that the proposal includes extending the galleries and constructing roofs over the stands.

?The proposal has some additional items such as constructing permanent toilets behind the galleries and coming up with other facilities. More facilities can be added after the proposal is accepted by the company,? they added.

The JSCA will also seek suggestions from Tata Steel on the improving the stadium.

Virender Sehwag, India?s opening batsman, had called for construction of roofs at the venue when he had visited the city for the India-England one-day international last month.

The JSCA will have to wait for Tata Steel to accept the proposal. The cricketing body cannot take initiatives on its own, as Tata Steel owns the stadium.
