Almost the entire cast of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi will be in the city soon |
Jamshedpur, Dec. 16: Steel city residents will receive a visual treat as a Christmas gift ? from none other than their favourite TV khaandhan, the Viranis.
Though bahu Tulsi (Smriti Irani) will not be part of it, her daughter Shobha (Ritu Choudhry), along with eight other actors ? all from the primetime soap ? will stage a Hindi comedy, Sabse Bada Rupaiyya, at the Tata auditorium on December 26.
The cast will be led by Sudhir Dalvi, who plays the grandfather in Kyunki?.
The three-hour play is a family drama on the mad rush for money. Sabse Bada Rupaiyya will feature Kyunki? actors like Muni Jha, Jaya Bhattacharya, Jiten Lalwani, Eva Grover, Rushali Arora, Master Karan and Jitendra Trehan.
Jha is the producer of the play, which has been written and directed by Harin Thakkar.
The plot revolves around the characters? lust for money and how they can go to any extent to get it.
The storyline is sprinkled with anecdotes from mytho-logy and sermons from some of the older characters.
The play aims at getting across how people forget their family in pursuit of money.
The drama is not just a laugh riot ? there are scenes that could also get the audience emotional.
From the vivacious Eva, the youthful Karan and the elderly Dalvi, the play will have the Kyunki? cast giving it their best shot ? live.
Though the play is not on the lines of the mega-serial ? the characters all belong to a middle-class family, unlike the rich and famous Viranis ? it does focus on the same kind of values that the television soap deals with, like the role of elders who try hard to keep the family together despite the hankering for money.
?It?s basically a hilarious play about this family. It has been a huge success in various cities of the country. It is scheduled to be performed at Calcutta on December 24 and 25,? says Roopali Patel, director, Episode, the event managers of the show.
