Smart eye on fleets
Tata FleetMan, the pioneering GPS-enabled vehicle tracking and route management systems from Tata Motors Limited, announced its new mobile app, among other features to enhance economy, safety and communication security of fleet operations. New features were immediately made available to all existing vehicles fitted with Tata FleetMan through FOTA (firmware over the air) upgrade. “Now, fleet owners can track and manage their vehicles conveniently on their Smartphones, thanks to the Tata FleetMan mobile app. The app can be downloaded for free on Android and Apple platforms,” Tata Motors executive director (commercial vehicles) Ravi Pisharody said. Through Tata FleetMan, vehicle movement can be tracked and controlled anywhere in the country with features such as trip management, GEO fencing and emergency alerts
Jusco award
Wholly owned Tata Steel subsidiary Jusco won the First Impact with Innovation Award-2013 in the power distribution management category hosted by Indian Chamber of Commerce, New Delhi, on November 15. Jusco MD Ashish Mathur and general manager (power services division) Sharad Kumar received the award from Union ministry of power secretary Pradeep Kumar Sinha. CESC (Bengal) and Dakshin Gujarat Vij Company (Gujarat) were the runners-up. In all, 23 power distribution companies from across the country had applied for the coveted award
HDFC cover
The Jharkhand government has allowed HDFC ERGO General Insurance Company Ltd to implement the modified national agricultural insurance scheme for farmers for rabi crops (2013-14). Company sources said the scheme would cover wheat, mustard, gram, potato, lentils, tomato and Sharad dhan across different pockets in the state. The national agricultural insurance cover assures farmers financial support in the event of failure of any notified crop due to natural calamities, pests, and diseases

Number-crunching with SBI
The 2,266th ATM of State Bank of India (SBI), which happens to be the 831st ATM of Jharkhand, was inaugurated at Bagun Nagar, Baridih, in Jamshedpur last week. “More ATMs mean faster anytime cash withdrawals for customers. We have plans to open another 400 ATMs by March 2014,” said SBI deputy managing director (Patna circle) Jeevandas Narayan
