The culinary journey of capital’s food buffs seems to be a never-ending one. It has been a lip-smacking hop from one eating address to another and the options continue to become more with every passing day.

After a series of Indian and continental food festivals hosted by various restaurants and hotels, kebabs and biryanis have become the season’s flavour. Close on the heels of a 10-day kebab and biryani festival hosted by Hotel Arya last month, Hotel Le Lac, situated at Line Tank Road, is also planning to rustle up some Nawabi delicacies.

Hotel Le Lac is gearing up for an exclusive biryani festival, which will start from September 7 and end on September 23.

Both vegetarian and non-vegetarian biryanis will be served to guests along with traditional sweets like phirni, baked rosogollas with fruits and khumani ka meetha, a sweet dish made of stewed apricot and served with cream.

“Our dosa festival, held from August 5 till 12, got overwhelming response. The guests wanted us to hold many such festivals and it is on their requests that we are organising the biryani carnival,” said food and beverage manager of Hotel Le Lac Amit Kumar Kaushik.

He added that there would also be shorba (a kind of gravy dish) for accompaniment followed by traditional sweets.

“It will be a la carte fare with the guests getting to choose from a menu of 10 kinds of biryanis,” Kaushik said.

However, he refused to divulge the details about the chefs, from where they had been roped in and the prices of the dishes.

The special spread will be served at the hotel’s coffee shop, Fleur, for lunch from 12.30pm till 2.45pm. Those who cannot make it in the afternoon may not lose heart as the food fest will be also on in the latter half of the day — from 7.30pm till 11pm.

At this time of competition when food festivals have become the norm of the day with every other hotel rustling up special delicacies to woo customers, the authorities are hoping that like the dosa festival, this one too would be a huge hit among diners.
