Jamshedpur, Sept. 12: Tata Football Academy (TFA) routed East Bengal 5-0 in their group match at the 5th Junior Under-19 I-League tournament at the JRD Sports Complex this morning.
Jagtar Singh scored a brace for the local outfit in the 41st and 65th minute of the game. Robin Singh was first to find the net in the 25th minute. Gujinder Singh came up with a goal in the 89th minute while J. Hangal posted a goal for the winning team in additional moments of the game.
In a keenly contested match at Keenan Stadium the Mumbai Football Club team defeated their rival Churchill Brothers by a margin of 2-1.
Sujit Kumar was first to score for winning team in 33rd minute. Karan Amin scored in second half of the game in 68th minute.
Later in the evening, JCT boys defeated Salgaocar Sporting Club by 2-1 in match played at JRD Sports Complex. Forward Dalvir Singh found the net with two goals in 52nd and 82nd of the match for JCT.
The only goal for Salgaocar by scored by Clifton Dias in 85th minute of the game.
In a tough contest the Sail Academy managed to defeat the Air India by 1-0. The lone goal of the match was scored Argha Chakroborty in 81st minute of the game.
Eight teams have made it to the quarterfinals of tournament which are Mahindra United, Dempo Sporting Club, Sesa Academy, Sporting Club De Goa, East Bengal, Sail Academy, Tata Football Academy and JCT.
The quaterfinals would take place on Saturday and Sunday.
