Jamshedpur: The JRD Tata Sports Complex in Bistupur, the venue for the upcoming Indian Super League (ISL) league will bathe in red and blue, the jersey colours of local team Jamshedpur Football FC.
From the pavilions, roofs, pillars, railings to the furniture in the dressing rooms, everything will wear the red and blue coat at the venue which is also owned by JFC owners, Tata Steel.
Painting is underway on a war footing at both the pavilions and the residential wing earmarked for housing separate dressing rooms for the home and visiting teams.
JFC players will blaze the greens in red jerseys and use blue during practice sessions. Green and white have been kept as optional colours.
Tata Steel chief of sports excellence Mukul Choudhari said, "We plan to put these two colours on the whole gallery in the coming years," he added.
On Tuesday carpenters were busy pasting sunmica on furniture at the air-conditioned JFC dressing room. The blue furniture at the facility for visiting teams is almost ready.
The pillars in the pavilions have already been painted blue while the bucket seats will wear a red and blue look. Red is also being applied on the railings surrounding the concrete galleries.
"We were keen to use colours matching our team jerseys. It looks good. The stadium will look magnificent once the facility is handed over to us by the first week of November. Imagine how JRD Tata Sports Complex will look once the four flood lights are switched on," beamed a senior official of Tata Steel sports wing.
Tata Steel is among the 10 ISL franchises and the only one to own a stadium. The other franchises host matches on rented venues.
