Is it a holiday romance? Is it a coming-of-age drama? What really happened in Corsica?

Tamasha, Imtiaz Ali's big Friday release starring Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone, has whetted the curiosity of film buffs in the director's hometown.

For an Imtiaz Ali film, a film lover in Jamshedpur won't check reviews in newspapers or online. He'll just go ahead and buy the ticket, first day, first show, or at least the first weekend.

Fellow Jamshedpureans who loved his last Highway ride with Randeep Hooda and Alia Bhatt are eagerly waiting to unveil the secret of what happened in Corsica, the tantalising teaser of Tamasha.

"Our very own Imtiaz Ali always comes up with a different and fresh story. Moreover, I loved the chemistry between Imtiaz and Ranbir Kapoor in Rockstar, so fingers crossed, I think I am going to like this one too," said Abhay Maurya, a radio jockey.

Though Abhay is rooting for Eylex Fun n Films on NH-33, which is screening 10 shows, he has other options. Payal Cinema on New Purulia Road in Mango and GT Cinema in Jugsalai will screen four shows each of the youth-centric film, which looks likely to offer a new approach to love like all of Imtiaz's previous films.

" Socha Na Tha, Jab We Met, Love Aaj Kal, Rockstar and Highway, love was felt differently in every Imtiaz film," said graphic designer Pitama Kurli. "So, I am expecting something similar in Tamasha."

Pitama added that scenic locations would also be a big draw. "It was Prague and its scenic beauty in Rockstar and this time in Tamasha it is Corsica in France. As an artist, I love the way he screens his locations as if they are also characters in the film. The tag line itself says 'What happens in Corsica remains in Corsica'. I am planning to watch it tomorrow (Friday) without waiting for reviews."

For many, the musical combination of A.R. Rahman, Mohit Chauhan and Arijit Singh is also a sure-fire draw, with chart-busters like Matargashti and Tum Saath Ho.

Students of Karim City College, where Imtiaz is a member of the advisory board, will watch the movie in groups.

Officials of Eylex and Payal Cinema expect a good response from Tamasha.

"We have expectations from Tamasha because firstly it is an Imtiaz Ali film and secondly the chemistry of Ranbir and Deepika comes alive on screen again after Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani," said Amrita Singh, an official of Eylex in Jamshedpur.
