Ranchi, April 4: A science exhibition held at St Anne?s Girls High School today showcased modern agricultural and irrigational techniques.

More than 150 schools from all over Ranchi demonstrated methods of conservation of water and energy with the help of models that they prepared over a period of four days.

They also highlighted some of the modern farming techniques.

Sangeeta Kumari, a student of Class VIII of Dibidih High School, showed, with the help of her model, how polluted water, too, can be used for gardening, irrigation and domestic purposes. A student of Class VIII, Vinod Kumar?s model suggested ways for flood control. Students of St Joseph?s High school showcased modern farming methods and animal rearing. ?With the help of bio technology, farmers can grow as many as 35 plants from one seed (hybridisation process). Bio-gas can be used for cooking,? said Kundan Kumar, a student of Class VIII. ?The windmill can be used to generate electricity, and it does not pollute the environment. The use of generators can be minimised,? said a student of Class IX of Rayen Urdu Girls School.

?The exhibition would be successful only when the students practise what they have preached here,? said a science teacher.
