Ranchi: Chief minister Raghubar Das on Thursday asked doctors of state-run RIMS to work with the spirit of serving people and desist from resorting to strikes while reminding them that their work was being monitored and proper action would be taken at the right moment.
"RIMS mein hartal sahan nahi. Seva bhavna se garib ki seva karen. Jis doctor ko jana ho, jao (Strike is intolerable at RIMS. Serve the poor with the spirit of service. Doctors, who want to go, can go)," Das said while inaugurating a 100-bed paying ward at RIMS and launching a month-long statewide measles-rubella vaccination drive.
Conveying a message of zero-tolerance for strikes, Das directed doctors to work in such a way that people remembered them long after they are gone.
" Aisa kaam karo ki jane ke baad bhi log aapko yaad karen. Mariz se accha vyavhar karen. Aapke vyavhar se aapke mariz ka aadha ilaaj ho jayega (Work in such a way that people remember you even in your absence. Behave properly with patients. Your good behaviour will do half the job of curing your patient," Das said.
The chief minister said he aimed to make RIMS like the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi would undertake strict measures to improve its standards.
"I have to make RIMS like AIIMS. We are silently monitoring the work each doctor and gathering information on their every movement. One should not blame me if strict action is taken against an errant doctor," he said.
The CM emphasised on cleanliness, too.

"The hospital is like a temple. The RIMS administration should keep the hospital as clean as a temple," he said.
Das also directed the RIMS authorities to keep a vigil on private nursing homes as well.
"Several private nursing homes have flourished around RIMS. Kindly keep a watch on them."
The CM on Thursday inaugurated a 100-bed paying ward in the super-specialty wing of RIMS where a patient can avail themselves of facilities similar to a private hospital on the payment of Rs 1,000 per room per day.
The five-storey building, built at a cost of Rs 22 crore, has two elevators. The ground floor has a dining hall, conference hall, kitchen and a recreation room.
There are 25 AC rooms with attached baths, refrigerators and television sets on each of the other four floors. The bathrooms are equipped with geysers. Each room has two beds, one for the patient and another for the attendant. One doctor and three nurses will always be available on each floor round the clock.
