The Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) facility in the state capital’s Namkum Industrial Area saw the entry of its fifth BPO/software company on Tuesday and another one is set to come next year in January.

YelloniX Private Limited, which has set up a domestic and international BPO unit, has been provided about 1,000sqft area at the picturesque STPI building with a seating capacity of 50. This may well be increased to 100 in the next few months if business is good.

Sidhharth Rai, additional director of Ranchi STPI, said with the entry of YelloniX, the number of companies at the incubation centre had increased to five. The existing four were White Tiger, Xiphias Software Technologies Pvt Ltd, Hicon and Novus. Another company, Sobha Softex, is expected to make an entry in January.

Yellonix, a Delhi-based company with expertise in search engine optimisation and web designing, was at Ranchi STPI to set up a domestic and international BPO.

Bishwajit Dey, one of the directors of the company, said their set-up would be a call centre while they would also be dealing in some US software products. “We are hopeful of a good business here,” said Dey, who is from Ranchi.

With Yellonix, the five units of STPI will employ a workforce of about 350 youths, a majority them from this region.

STPI, which has been demanding more space to invite more companies to use its incubation facilities, would not have any more to offer after the entry of Sobha Softex. Rai said two more companies had applied for their facilities but they were in a position to offer, at best, only one.

The state capital’s incubation facility has a work area of about 10,000sqft on a 4.5-acre campus provided by Ranchi Industrial Area Development Authority at Namkum. The facility has high-speed Internet connectivity and 24-hour power backup.

At present, Mumbai-based RSG Software is the biggest company using the STPI facilities in Ranchi but outside the incubation area. Many other companies like TCS and Tata Technologies Limited, which have offices in Jamshedpur, are also associated with STPI.

Two more STPIs are coming up at Adityapur Industrial Area near Jamshepdur and at BIT-Sindri campus in Dhanbad district. Chief minister Arjun Munda has already written to Union IT minister Kapil Sibal for considering the state’s demand for setting up two more STPIs at the temple town of Deoghar and steel town of Bokaro, besides providing more space to the Ranchi facility.
