Jamshedpur, June 2: Time for some Salsa heat in these sultry times.

Dance enthusiasts in the steel city will soon shake a leg, and more, to the tune of Latino beats. And if the sizzling dance form catches the fancy of the movers and shakers, then parties will no longer be the same.

Raghavendra and Aditya, who founded Casa del Salsa (House of Salsa) to popularise the dance in the country, are set to raise the temperature on dance floors with some Latino heat.

?We are committed to this city?. so we thought about introducing Salsa for the people of Jamshedpur,? said Raghavendra, brand manager of Ranee&Ganny, the promoters of Salsa in India. The siblings are former students of Loyola.

The steel city is the first in eastern India to be included in the Salsa map, Raghavendra added.

Twenty-four-year-old Aditya said they are looking ahead to the introduction of Salsa, which is a ?happening item? in Bangalore, Mumbai and Delhi, in Jamshedpur. ?We are organising a weeklong intensive workshop on Salsa at Golmuri Club from Saturday (June 4) to make the city people understand the niceties of the dance,? he added.

Aditya said Casa del Salsa will also offer lessons at home. The fees for private lessons will be Rs 800 and Rs 1,500 per person per hour, depending on the nature of the training. ?The rates we are offering are half of what we charge in cities like Delhi,? he added. Registration forms are available at the Golmuri Club office.

Aditya, a professional dancer and choreographer who has trained more than 400 people, said Salsa steps are simple and one does not need any prior knowledge of other dance forms. ?Anybody over 10 years of age can learn Salsa. There is no upper limit. It is the easiest way of learning western dance styles,? he added.

Explaining the finer points of Salsa, Aditya said the movements include cross-body lead, underarm right turns and eye signals by the male partner.

?In Salsa, it?s a man?s job to make a woman look beautiful,? he said, adding that the dance form originated in Cuba.

Aditya, visited a city caf? in the evening, said: ?Salsa is a chemistry between two people.? One can even use the dance form in contemporary Bollywood music, besides popular western music, he added.

People of all ages ? from 10 to 70 ?are riding the Salsa wave in India, Aditya said. ?This amazing dance form gives you the opportunity to lead an exciting life,? he signed off.
