Name:Kumar Sanu, student of Class VII, Delhi Public School, Dhanbad. nHas passion for:Chess. Kumar has already participated in over 60 competitions. His first championship was when he was barely six-years old, the district open chess championship in 2001. He did not win but he did go on to clinch the first place in his first under-8 chess championship held by The Telegraph the same year. Since then, he’s never looked back and has reached the top positions in state-level chess championships. In 2003, he gave a strong fight to his opponents who had come from 12 countries to participate at the Tata International Open Chess Championship held in Jamshedpur. nInspired by:His elder brother, Manoj Kumar, who is a games teacher at DPS. He was very young when he saw his brother lose a game of chess. Kumar made a promise right then that one day he would be a master of the game. And so he is. nAdmires:Garry Kasprov and Vishwanathan Anand. nAlso likes:Cricket. Would like to play with Sachin Tendulkar at least once! ncHILLS OUT WITH: His pet dog, a white spitz. nLikes to study: Social studies. Going into details about various aspects of society and people is something he finds very interesting and useful. nloves what: Reading the Harry Potter novels!
