Ranchi, Sept. 27: It was a stamp story unfolding the culture and history of Jharkhand and the contribution of all those who made the formation of the state possible.

Stamp collectors got an opportunity to know more about their hobby at “Kidspex 2002”, a three-day exhibition on stamp collection, books and toys, organised by St Michael’s School.

An impressive collection of stamps depicting the history of Jharkhand was displayed to provide complete information to students and philatelists.

“A stamp is a complete encyclopaedia in itself. A single stamp can carries complete information about the time during which it was published, the geography and history of the place and the language of the region,” said Bibhuti Bhushan Roy, a philatelist and an employee of the State Bank of India, Ranchi.

The student duo of Joshua Stuart and Ravi Prasad had compiled a rich collection of stamps and coins, dating back to the Mughal and British regime for the exhibition. “Stamp collection has been a hobby in my family for the past three generations and I am proudly carrying this rich heritage forward,” said Joshu Staurt, a student of D.A.V, Hehal.

“I have a collection of coins, which are as old as 1740 years with images of Lord Rama and Lakshman on them. There are coins from different parts of the world and the gold coins too add value to my collection,” said Ravi Prasad, student of D.A.V, Hehal.
