Ranchi: Doctors at the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences advised Snehashish Chakraborty alias Bubul to be shifted to Vellore for treatment since he has shown no signs of recovery. Chakraborty, an LIC agent, was allegedly beaten up by Lower Bazaar police officials on August 17 when he went to meet a friend detained by the police. He has been unconsciousness since then.

Chaibasa: Eight members of a family were swept away on Saturday when the Kanu river flooded their home at Pokhartola of Andhari panchayat under Kumardungi block of Singhbhum-Kolhan division. The bodies of Suresh Nayak, his wife, mother and five children were later fished out from various places.

Ranchi:The government has sent its recommendation to appoint a permanent chairperson for the Jharkhand Public Service Commission. According to sources, senior commission member and acting chairperson Dilip Prasad is tipped to become permanent.

Ranchi: Thirteen undergraduate students, nine from K.O. College, Gumla, and four from Karim City College, Jamshedpur, were expelled for cheating during the BA/BSc/BCom Part I examinations on Saturday. Twentyfour students were expelled on Friday.

Jamshedpur: Tayo Rolls Ltd, a Tata company, has won the Global Peacock Innovation Award for 2004 for innovation and customer service.

Jamshedpur: An 11-member team will represent the Steel Plants’ Sports Board at the 44th National Open Athletics Championships in Mumbai from September 10.
