Three venues in the steel city will witness some quality soccer in the Jamshedpur Sporting Association (JSA) football league, which is tentatively scheduled for a June 10 kick-start.

The event, one of the oldest sports fixtures in Jharkhand, will be staged at Keenan Stadium, JRD Tata Sports Complex and Armoury Ground.

A total of 37 teams from the city and its outskirts will vie for top honours in Premier Division, Super Division and A Division. The month-long tourney is a platform for the participants to make a mark and graduate to the state outfit.

"We have fixed June 10 for the start of the JSA soccer league. Preparations will begin after a few days," said JSA football committee chairman Ramesh Mehta, adding that elaborate arrangements would be made for the tournament.

JSA secretary Rajiv Mishra told The Telegraph that the tournament was tentatively scheduled for a June 10 start and a final decision would be taken at a meeting at JRD Tata Sports Complex on Friday.

The JSA management committee will organise a grand opening at the Gopal Maidan. Authorities are in contact with three former greats of Indian football and will invite one for the inauguration.

"We are in touch in with the former national players and would like to invite one of them for the inauguration. We promise to hold a grand opening ceremony. Chhau will be staged at the ceremony. More discussions will take place at Friday's meeting," said Charles Borromeo, vice-president of the JSA.
