Jamshedpur, Jan. 6: He may be afraid of Annu Malek but the judge loves him. And so does Jamshedpur.
Rajdeep Chatterjee has made it to the final nine on reality show Indian Idol 4 and now all he wants from the people of his city is votes to keep him in the competition.
The dark horse of the show (as referred to another judge actress Sonali Bendre) would visit the city tomorrow and perform live in front of the audience.
After being appreciated by judges on the show, the Loyola lad is coming to town to campaign and win hearts of the residents here.
Rajdeep has a series of events lined up for tomorrow after he reaches the city.
A grand road show will be arranged to welcome the boy, who has made the city proud by his singing talent after which Rajdeep would then visit his alma mater.
A visit to other educatio-nal institutions like Sacred Heart Convent and Jamshedpur Women’s College are also on the cards.
In the evening, after a live performance at Beldih Club, he would call it a wrap.
“Along with performances, Rajdeep would appeal for votes personally so that people of the city and the state help him in staying in the running. The whole show will be covered by Sony Entertainment Television and aired later,” said Rajdeep’s father, T.K. Chatterjee.
The main purpose of his visit will be to shoot a footage for the channel.
“He has performed well and mentors and celebrity guests are all praises for him. He has earned his position in the top nine. As a parent, I consider that my child is blessed to have come so far,” the father said.
The votes coming in for him have not been much and he was in the bottom three sometimes. This has disheartened Rajdeep’s parents as well as the judges.
“I hope people see him perform tomorrow and vote for him as he needs their blessings. Though we would want everybody in the state to vote for Rajdeep, we are banking on youngsters,” Chatterjee added.
Schools and college students would most intrigued to meet the singer. “If he wins the title it will be a proud moment for us all as he will be the first Indian Idol from the state,” said Chatterjee.
At Beldih Club, members could see him perform but the authorities have made an arrangement where students carrying their identity cards can also come in and enjoy the show.
“I hope students and guests enjoy the show and vote for him so that he an win the title. As a father, I am praying for Rajdeep, as he got the calibre to become the next Indian Idol,” said Chatterjee.
The event tomorrow will be managed by Diva Adver- tising in association with Mediatech that has also requested the East Singhbhum district administration to provide security arrangements for the young singer during the road show.
