Jamshedpur, July 15: Bhojpuris can now share photos, videos and start discussions on a social networking website dedicated to them.
With an aim to bring the Bhojpuri speaking population on a common platform, a city-based company has launched www.jaibhojpuri.com.
Director of Infotech Exporters Private Limited Sudhir Kumar said that over 100 members have signed up within 24-hours of launch. “We are getting popular. We hope to add more people in days to come,” he said.
The site has several features. It allows chatting, music, picture and video uploads and a discussions thread. Members can add friends to their page like that on Orkut and Facebook. “Bhojpuri speaking people across the globe can interact with their friends and relatives. A large percentage of Bhojpuri population stays in Mauritius and Singapore. I am sure they will be excited about this venture,” said an official of the company.
The website also has a news section that will flash the latest events in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand.
“Members can easily connect and become aware of the events concerning their states. The portal will help in raising voices on vital issues such uplifting the language,” he said. Earlier, the portal developer had launched www.bhojpuria.com, which was one of the first websites in Bhojpuri language. It had also received the Manthan Award as the India’s best e-culture website of 2006. “We are using the Internet to bring the community together. It will help in propagating the culture to other parts of country,” Kumar said.
