Koderma, April 1: More than 60 per cent of the polling booths spread across the extremist-affected districts of Koderma, Giridih and Hazaribagh, which fall under the Koderma parliamentary constituency, have been declared either super-sensitive or sensitive by the respective district administrations.
Elaborate security measures have been chalked out to ensure peaceful polling in these areas on April 20.
About 900 of the 1,443 booths have been marked sensitive and super-sensitive.
“Of the 963 polling centres in Giridih district, 588 have been identified as sensitive and super-sensitive. Adequate central paramilitary forces will be posted in the areas under Gawan, Tisri, Dhanwar, Birni, Bagodar, Jamua, Deori, Gandey and Bengabad blocks,” said Rakesh Ranjan, Giridih deputy commissioner-cum-returning officer of the Koderma parliamentary constituency.
There are only 123 normal booths in Koderma district out of a total of 341.
Thirty-three are super-sensitive while 159 fall in the sensitive category.
Some of the polling booths in Chandwara block of the district fall under Hazaribagh parliamentary constituency area.
The Koderma Lok Sabha seat includes the Assembly segments of Koderma, Barkaththa, Dhanwar, Bagodar, Jamua and Gandey.
All six Assembly segments have witnessed a number of Naxalite and criminal activities in the past. Paramilitary forces have reached Markachcho and Satgawan blocks in Koderma district.
