Jamshedpur, Oct. 17: Getting your child admitted to school can be just a click away.

DAV School, Bistupur, will launch online admission next week for kindergarten and Plus Two students for the session beginning March 2007. With this, DAV will become the first school in the steel city to have online admission.

Once the system is introduced, parents and students can access forms by logging on to www.davbistupur.com. The facility, an outcome of the school’s decision to cut down on cost of paper and labour, will be extended to other activities as well.

“This year we decided to cut down on paperwork in the school. Besides, such a step would also help save a lot of time for the management,” said S.P. Sharma, the principal.

The school is also set to launch its first e-prospectus along with admission forms.

“Every school activity — admissions, applications for leave, money transfers and getting transfer certificates — will now be done online,” explained Sharma.

Developed by Tanmay Pal and Chaitali Chatterjee, computer instructors at the school, the e-prospectus would have a section on teachers’ profiles and another link on sample question papers.

“As some of the seats remain vacant every year in all the classes, our teachers have developed a set of sample question papers for admission in any class,” said Pal.

The e-prospectus contains details of the syllabi and other necessary information related to the school.

DAV Bistupur will accept forms till November 11 and the entrance tests for candidates — both KG and Class XI — will be held on December 23.

The school authorities have made alternative arrangements for those not too comfortable with the Net.

“They can acquire an interactive CD from the school office at a nominal price of Rs 50. No paper forms will be sold from this year,” said the principal.

The school is negotiating with telecom companies on having an interactive messaging service between parents/guardians and the authorities.

“Every activity of the child, be it absenteeism or performance in class, and every negotiation between the two parties will be done through SMS ,” said Sharma.
