Ranchi, May 2: Runs showered for the Delhi Public School (DPS), Ranchi boys despite the scorching sun as they made mincemeat of their opponents? bowling attack to register emphatic wins in both their matches of the East Zone Inter-DPS Under 14 Cricket Tournament, which kicked off here yesterday.
In today?s match, Ranchi team, after being invited to bat first by their opponents DPS, Dhaligaon (Assam), scored 222 runs for the loss of six wickets in just 20 overs. Thanks to the brilliant partnership between Ayush and Navneet, who scored 70 and 51 runs respectively.
The overall disciplined effort of the Ranchi boys, which reflected in their bowling as well, helped them to bowl out their opponents for a mere 33 runs. Bowling a tight line and length, Sidharth and Faizan took three wickets each, while Ankit bagged two wickets. Nobody from the Dhaligaon team could reach double figure.
The winning streak of the Ranchi boys had started yesterday itself when they had thrashed DPS, Ruby Park, Calcutta by a huge margin of 249 runs. Yesterday?s hero in the match was Utkarsh who alone scored 156 runs out of the total of 274 that included seven sixes and 22 boundaries.
In the other matches played today, DPS, Kalinga defeated their opponents DPS, New Town (Kolkata) by six wickets; DPS, Dhanbad defeated DPS, Mega City (Kolkata) by a huge 136 runs margin.
