Ranchi, Dec. 8: The Army Service Corps (ASC) celebrated its 243rd Raising Day in the capital today.

Celebrations at the oldest corps of the Indian army began on November 29 and concluded today. Col. Sunil Bharghava addressed the jawans and officers of ASC and highlighted the glorious past of the unit.

Bharghava congratulated the officers who had won laurels for the unit. He said the corps should strive hard to maintain its high standard. The ASC was formed in 1759 and has been the lifeline of the army. “It is the support line of soldiers. The first colours of the ASC were presented by President Zakir Hussain on December 8, 1967,” said Major R.S. Shekhawat.
