Ranchi, March 16: The state road construction department has decided to take over the repairs of the 71.9km dilapidated Mohulia-Baharagora road on NH-33 from a private agency that has completed only 15 per cent of the work.

The decision was finalised at a meeting held by chief secretary Rajiv Gauba with top government officials and National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) authorities at Project Building today.

The meeting was meant to review road projects undertaken by the NHAI.

"We had entrusted Narsaria Construction with the job to repair and maintain the Mohulia-Baharagora stretch of NH-33. But the agency's services were terminated after it could undertake only around 15 per cent work. It was a Rs 14 crore project, out of which about Rs 12 crore is left with us. We will be providing the amount to the state road construction department so that it can continue the project. If the expenses go beyond that, the road construction department may give a fresh estimate," NHAI regional officer Chandan Vatsa said.

Gauba also discussed widening of Barhi-Hazaribagh section of NH-33, Hazaribagh-Ranchi stretch of NH-33, Ranchi-Mohulia section of NH-33, Mohulia-Baharagora section of NH-33, NH-32 link between Rajganj-Chas-up and Bengal border, the road between Barwadda and Jharkhand-Bihar border on NH-2 and NH-23 passing through Chas and Ramgarh.
