Ranchi, April 1: Getting an Internet connection will no longer be time-taking. All you need is to go the CTO building at Shaheed Chowk and buy a pre-paid “Sancharnet Card” from the counter and you can access the facility whenever and wherever you want.

Two weeks after the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) upgraded its cellular phone network in the state, the Ranchi telecom district on Tuesday launched the “Sancharnet Card” facility from which users can access the Internet through pre-paid cards.

A senior official of the Ranchi telecom district circle told The Telegraph that to begin with, these pre-paid cards have been made available at the CTO building. “However, we will make these cards available at the district telecom offices (DTOs) at Bariatu and Hinoo and also at the airport gradually,” he added.

The “Sancharnet card” is a pre-paid Internet access card, which enables customers to self register with his/her choice of user ID for availing Internet access. The card also provides facilities to existing ‘Sancharnet card’ holders to renew his/her existing Internet account. The customers will have the liberty to choose from a wide range of Sancharnet-Internet access packages. One can purchase any card of the denomination of Rs 525 (for 100 hours), Rs 1,050 (for 200 hours), Rs 2,415 (for 500 hours) and Rs 4,725 (for 1,000 hours). After buying the card, one will have to register the user name and enter the password.
