Jamshedpur, June 26: A pledge to give up drugs was the common refrain at all the functions, which were organised to observe International Day against drug abuse and illicit trafficking here today.
The Navjyoti Delhi Police Foundation (NDPF) and Lions Club of Steel City held a poster competition on drug abuse and its ill-effects at the Jamshedpur School of Arts (JSA) to observe the day. More than 40 artists of the school of arts participated in the contest. Deputy commissioner Nidhi Khare was the chief guest. “It is an excellent idea, which will help generate awareness about the ill-effects of drugs on the society,” she said.
Khare said she would seek the help of the Navjyoti Delhi Police Foundation and the Lions Club of Steel City in conducting an -anti-drive drive in the city.
A function was jointly organised by the district administration and the Patients Care Action Committee. More than 38 officials and clerks of the district administration, who had given up drugs were felicitate. A number of addicts pledged to give up the habit. The Tata Steel town division organised a function at Sonari community Development Centre.
