Chirag Paswan, the son of LJP supremo Ram Vilas Paswan, is planning to don a new role, though not in reel life — his first love.
Having failed to create a strong footing in Bollywood as yet, the Paswan scion is all set to follow in his father’s footsteps and join politics and contest the Lok Sabha elections.
Chirag, despite a disastrous debut on the silver screen with actress Kangana Ranaut in Miley Na Miley Hum, however, hasn’t given up on his acting aspirations. He has two new movies hitting the floors soon.
Paswan Junior told newsmen in Bokaro on Tuesday that he had already taken a plunge in politics but he didn’t want people to consider it as the end of his film career. He said he was prepared to contest elections if his party so wanted.
The budding actor-politician had been attending LJP workers’ meetings and trying to reach out to youths for whom, he claimed, no government of Bihar and Jharkhand had done any thing.
The Lok Janshakti Party has almost no presence in Jharkhand now. It is also regarded as a diminishing force in Bihar. Chirag, however, said it was a wrong perception as his party still had a huge support base in Bihar. The upcoming elections, he added, would prove it.
The son of Rajya Sabha MP further said chief minister Nitish Kumar had done nothing for Bihar. “Despite his tall claims, the youth are frustrated with him,” said Chirag, adding that LJP would cash in on this growing disappointment.
On his party’s plans in Jharkhand, he said LJP leaders would visit every district of the state to garner support and strengthen the party base. “The party will be restructured and we will contest seats in Jharkhand in the Lok Sabha as well as Assembly elections,” he claimed.
