Enough of fasting. It is time to indulge yourself and take a trip from “Chanakya to China” officials of Chanakya BNR Hotel would suggest.

The month of August is set to be filled with loads of food and music with a number of Ranchi-based hotels planning to hold food festivals to re-tickle the taste buds of the foodies.

Taking the lead in this regard is none other than Chanakya BNR Hotel, which started a 10-day oriental food festival, focussing mainly on Chinese cuisine, from Friday.

Speaking to reporters earlier, resident manager of the hotel Sudhir Mishra claimed that the food festival will be different from anything that had been witnessed by the residents till date.

“To start things off, we have arranged for a lucky draw for all our customers, where the winners can either win a two-day stay package in Puri or a weekend of luxury stay at Chanakya BNR Hotel, Ranchi,” Mishra said.

He added that the hospitality resort would be specially flying in two master chefs — Dhiren Sherpa and Shushil Chetri — from Hotel Taj Palace in New Delhi and Bangalore for the festival.

“We for the very first time have also decided to introduce a live noodle making counter, where the chefs will demonstrate their skills right in front of the guests,” the resident manager said.

The hotel will flaunt Chinese décor complete with paper lanterns hanging from the ceiling and pipe music playing in the background as the guests dig into their Tom Kha soup, chicken dumpling soup, Thai chicken salad, chicken prawn glass noodles salad, water chestnut and corn sui mai, green parsley with coriander spring, chicken and cilantro dumplings.

The menu consists of 50 items — soups, starters, main course and desserts — all of which are priced between Rs 125 and Rs 850. All the ingredients for the dishes, like fresh lobsters, hone fish, snappers while sauces like kikkoman, sambal, have been procured from Delhi and Calcutta.
