Jharkhand IG (CID and organised crime) Sampat Meena flags off a pink patrol vehicle at JAP grounds in Bokaro on Wednesday. Soon after the flag-off, the vehicle, along with another one, started patrolling the streets of Bokaro to make the district a safer place for women as part of Operation Pink. The vehicles will be on watch round the clock against eve-teasing and other atrocities the fair sex faces. All one needs to do is dial 100 and request for help. The SUVs, which will be manned by a lady officer and two constables, will also spread awareness about women empowerment. The vehicles are equipped with GPS devices, walkie-talkies, sirens and mikes. The walkie-talkies will help connect the police team on the move directly with the control room and local thana for swift action, while GPS will track movement of the vehicles. Picture by Pankaj Singh
