A nurse checked four pregnant patients and vaccinated as many as 18 infants, before her coronavirus test reports came positive, and a team went to her house in the Dusadh mohalla of Ramgarh, to send her to isolation in a Covid hospital in Navi Sarai on Sunday.

The nurse had returned from her parents’ house in Bihar after attending a marriage ceremony there, and had ignored guidelines of home quarantine and continued with her work in an aanganwadi centre in Murramkala village, when her report turned out to be positive on Saturday night.

A health department officer in Ramgarh said they had done the contact
tracing in this case and samples collected.

In Koderma, an illegal liquor seller in Chutiyaro village was found infected with the virus, due to which he was shifted to a Covid hospital instead of being sent to prison on Sunday.

Some policemen was also quarantined.

Contact tracing is being done to find out who he had met in the past few days.

In Hazaribagh, a youth whose results came out positive on Saturday, confused
officials who failed to understand how he got infected, as he reached Hazaribagh Medical College and Hospital on his own with his test positive report.

The youth said he went to Ranchi for treatment of some stomach-related problems, after which doctors sent him for tests and he was found Covid positive.

Two killed in accident

Two persons were killed while half a dozen others injured when a mini bus carrying members of marriage party overturned on their way from Tundi to Giridih on Monday morning.

The bodies of Markush Soren (35) and Ranjit Soren (17), both residents of Piyarshala village of Tundi, were sent for post mortem at PMCH.

Cash looted

A gun-borne biker gang looted cash and worth Rs 17.5 lakh from the collection agent of a petrol pump at Kabirdih area, who received a gunshot wound in his right leg on Monday.

The agent, Sunil Mandal, was heading towards Bank of India to deposit the cash collected from the petrol pump on his bike.

Two unidentified persons who arrived on another bike snatched the cash and fired at him when he resisted the robbery.

Group clash in Wasseypur

Three persons were injured during a group clash that took place in the Pandarpala locality of Wasseypur, Dhanbad on Monday morning during which supporters of Kalam Quraishi and Hira Quraishi attacked each other over the ownership of roadside stall.

Hira Quraishi, in his complaint to the police, said that he purchased the stall for Rs 9000 but Kalam Quraishi claimed that the stall belonged to him, leading to clash between the both the sides.

Judgement on MLA bail petition reserved

A hearing in the case of a bail application for Baghmara MLA Dhullu Mahto in connection with the charges of rape and outraging the modesty of women, lodged by a Katras woman, was completed by a High Court bench headed by justice R Mukhopadhyay on Monday.

However, the judgement was reserved for the next hearing.

The bail petition lodged in Dhanbad Jail on May 11 was rejected by the district and sessions judg Rajeev Kumar Sinha on June 10.

Man cheats Rs 25,000 on the pretext of providing BSL job

Police on Monday arrested a criminal who swindled money from youths on the pretext of providing them a job in Bokaro Steel Plant (BSL).

The accused Nagmani is a resident of Sector-9.

DSP Gyan Ranjan said that the matter came to police after a victim, Umesh Raut, a resident of Samastipur, Bihar, complained that the swindler, Ranjan Sharma had cheated him of Rs 25,000, via Paytm.

Police arrested Nagmani, who confessed to the crime.

Fake Aadhaar cards and other documents were recovered from his possession.

Gang of vehicle lifters, including havildar, arrested

Three members of a gang of vehicle lifters, including a havildar of the Jhakhand Armed Police (JAP), were arrested in Bokaro on Monday.

The accused have been identified as Pappu Singh, resident of Jaridih Shanti Nagar, Vijay Bhuiyan of Chando, and Petarwar and Peenu Nayak of Petarwar who have a criminal history.

Police are also trying to solve other cases of bike theft by interrogating them.

“Acting on a tip-off, inspector Vinod Kumar caught a man who was trying to sell a stolen motorbike in Govind market at a cheaper price,” said DSP Satish Chandra Jha said.

“He saw the police and attempted to flee but was chased and arrested. Based on his information, the other two were arrested and the stolen motorbikes recovered,” he said.

Smuggling of iron and coal, gambling, not to be tolerated: SP

Illegal trading of iron and coal will not be tolerated, said Bokaro SP Chandan Kumar Jha, while conducting his first crime meeting with DSPs in Bokaro.

He also said that the gambling business should be closed in the area.

“If proof of involvement of any policeman is found in these illegal businesses, then strict action will be taken against him,” he said.

He also said that every officer-in-charge should create a friendly atmosphere, so that residents can feel safe.

The SP also asked police officials to keep themselves safe from Covid-19 by following all the necessary precautions and create awareness among the public.

Woman slaps FIR for assault, being branded a witch

A woman in Giridih has lodged an FIR against six persons alleging they had thrashed her, and branded her as a witch.

The FIR said that people reached her house, punched her and beat her with sticks.

Her husband, who tried to save her, was also assaulted and has sustained injuries.

When neighbours came to save them, the miscreants ran from the spot, threatening her to be ready to face the consequences.

Police station in-charge Ratnesh Mohan Thakur, said investigation is on.
