He doesn't resemble Nawazuddin Siddiqui's maverick Faisal Khan in Anurag Kashyap's epic, two-part Gangs of Wasseypur, but the life of this gangster inspired the director to craft the film.
If Kashyap ever made a sequel, gangster Faheem Khan, in jail since May 2011 in connection with the murder of rival Mohammed Sagir, will appear in an unlikely role - father of the bride.
No resemblance to Steve Martin of the warm-hearted Hollywood film, the ageing gangster in a pink T-shirt reached Dhanbad on Monday morning from Ghaghidih Central Jail in Jamshedpur amid tight security for the nikaah of his third daughter Noor Fatima with Mohammed Irfan, also a Wasseypur resident.
Around 9.30am, Khan, who received a day's parole from Jharkhand High Court, reached the marriage venue, Railway Club, about 4km from his house at Qumar Makhdami Road of Wasseypur .

He performed rituals for his daughter's wedding in the presence of a posse of policemen - including DSP D.N. Banka, officers in charge of Bank More, Chirkunda and Dhanbad Sadar police stations Naresh Kumar, Munna Gupta and Akhileshwar Chaubey - and family members.
The police, who didn't allow the media to interact with the gangster, took him away around 3pm when wedding rituals were over.
Iqbal Khan, his elder son, later told the media that he was happy that his father could make it to the wedding.
"Like every son, I am happy to meet my father. We were apprehensive whether he would he allowed to participate in the wedding due to the tension in Dhanbad after the recent murder of (former deputy mayor) Niraj Singh. We are grateful to the court," Iqbal said.
The state, in fact, had objected to Khan's parole over security reasons in the light of the tension surrounding Dhanbad over Niraj's murder, but the court overruled it. Niraj and three others were felled by a volley of bullets in Seraidhela, Dhanbad, on March 21 evening.
Facing altogether 27 criminals cases, including murders and extortions, Khan's larger-than-life rivalry with another mafia don Sabir Alam had inspired Kashyap's film.
Convicted of killing Mohammed Sagir, Khan has been touring jails since 2011 for security reasons, from Dhanbad to Hazaribagh, Dumka, Ranchi and finally Jamshedpur.
It is rumoured that Khan, along with other members of his gang lodged in different jails across the state, flexes muscles from behind bars to influence tenders for railway and other public sector projects.
