Savitri Devi, wife of Baghmara MLA Dhullu Mahto, on Friday accused police of trying to implicate her husband in false cases as part of vendetta politics of the Hemant Soren-led state government.

On Wednesday, police landed up at his residence in Chitahi for a February 14, 2020 case of attempt-to-murder near his home.

A district court on Thursday granted him anticipatory bail in a rioting case dating back to April 2018.

Another case against Dhullu, of a former BJP women's wing leader accusing him of rape and molestation, is also in court.

Talking to media at her residence, Dhullu’s wife Savitri claimed a senior police official had admitted that the cops were acting on the instructions of chief minister Hemant.

“The opponents of my husband are unnerved over his growing popularity and they are making all attempts to discredit him as they know that they will not be successful in Baghmara without defeating him,” she said.

She claimed the woman who had accused Dhullu of sexual assault was working at the best of a former Giridih MP.

Savitri claimed that call detail records of the mobile phones of the ex-MP and the woman would expose the “nexus” between the two.
