For career advancement, higher income potential and increased mobility, a degree in some specialised course is essential.

A master’s degree in business administration can open doors to the glitzy corporate world and, of course, a fat pay cheque. You can combine a technical or specialised undergraduate degree with an MBA, which will hone your managerial skills. Keeping in view the growing demand for MBAs in the country and abroad, the Institute of Management Studies (IMS), Jamshedpur, has introduced a CAT classic programme for wannabe MBAs. Cat classic prepares students for the entrance tests conducted by the management institutes in the country.

Course Contents: Data interpretation, quantitative ability, modern mathematics (algebra, geometry), data sufficiency, logical reasoning, comprehension, verbal reasoning, persuasive skills, practice sessions for case study and group discussion, orientation and practice for personal interview, verbal ability, presentation skills, development of oratory and narrative skills and descriptive strategies.

Duration: Six months

Eligibility: A bachelor’s degree from a recognised university, with a minimum of 50 per cent in secondary and Plus two examinations. Candidates appearing for the final year bachelor’s degree or its equivalent can also apply for the course.

Course Fees: Rs 8,900/, with installment facility.

Prospects: The syllabus is designed for students taking the Common Admission Test (CAT). After the course, students can appear for the entrance tests of Birla Institute of Management, Faculty of Management Studies and Indian Institute of Foreign Trade.
