Ranchi, May 2: After styling Bollywood stars like Milind Soman, Arbaaz Khan, Karan Johar and Antara Mali, it’s now turn of the people of Ranchi to sport trendy haircuts as hairstylist Shaanwaz Alam is in city.

Shaan (26), who is rated as one of the best hairstylists in the country, has been invited to attend the clients of VLCC at PN Bose Compound. Previously he used to give hairdo of people at Nalini Yasmin’s Hair Institute, Bandra in Mumbai.

Shaan, who was seen swiftly moving his hands on a lady’s hair, said Nalini’s institute is considered to be one of the best in the business. “I got a call from my owner to join the institute but I want to serve the people of Jharkhand now,” Shaan said.

Before trying his hand in the Bandra hair institute, he worked for one year at Chikaba Collin Khan’s (ex-wife of model Marc Robinson) salon, where he learnt spiky looks. “During my training, I learnt different ways of colouring, cuts, squares, layers, blunt, long layers with stress on hair styling,” Shaan said.

“People here are not aware about hair styling, when they visit the salon they just want a hair cut,” said Shaan. The cost of hair styling ranges from Rs 500 to Rs 5,000 depending on the style the customer wants.

He has won L’Oreal Colour Trophy in the western zone recently. While praising Shaan, a regular client at VLCC, Sanjeev Singh said he does magic with hair.

When asked about his journey to fame and success, Shaan became nostalgic.

“It has been 15 long years of struggle. We used to live in Gaya. When I was eight years old, we shifted to Mumbai. After my father’s demise the entire burden of the family fell on me,” Shaan said.
