Ranchi, June 5: Looking for a movie on wildlife? Soon, you will find it, and lots more, at the Birsa Munda Zoo.

The Birsa Munda Zoo library-cum-audio video visual centre coming up by December would provide facilities for visitors to gather information about wildlife and endangered species through books, periodicals and audio-visual clips.

Located 18km from the city, the zoo library will be staffed by a librarian and volunteers. The upcoming audio video centre will be on the ground floor while the first floor will store books related to wildlife.

S.K. Sharma, the chief conservator of forests (wildlife), told The Telegraph that the main purpose to build a library was to apprise visitors of the importance of preserving wildlife and endangered animal.

“The construction of the library is almost complete and only furniture remains to be put up ,” Sharma pointed out.

He added they were in the process of collecting books from different places for the library. “We have also made arrangements for the audio video centre where movies related to wildlife would be showcased,” Sharma said.

The zoo library, construction for which started last year, is near completion.

According to the information gathered by zoo officials, visitors would also get an opportunity to catch a glimpse of the fish and snake house expected to be complete by the year-end.

Birsa Zoo is home to more than 300 species, which include both animals and birds.
