Ranchi, Nov. 6: Abhijeet Group’s Corporate Power Limited, which is coming up with a 1,740 MW power plant at an estimated cost of Rs 10,050 crore in Latehar, has been felicitated with the national level gold award for “outstanding and exclusive planning and implementation of CSR activities in areas affected by the project”.
According to an official communiqué issued by the company here today, the three-day award ceremony took place at the Sher-I-International Conference Centre in Srinagar from October 19 to October 21 and was supported and recognised by the Union ministry of heavy industries and public enterprises. General manager (project) P.C. Joshi and AGM (CSR) Amrendra Kumar received the award on behalf of the company.
Speaking to The Telegraph, Abhijeet Group CEO Arun Gupta said that the execution of CSR policies had taken a giant leap in the current times.
“The adverse ground realities in the state never deterred our team . It never lost track of its goal and we managed to achieve what we had set our eyes on,” he said.
General manager Joshi added that their contributions of should serve as an ideal example for other as to what a well-rounded company was like.
“The award is a source of pride for the state in general and for the people of Latehar in particular who have co-operated with the company in helping it implement its CSR modules in various sectors like education, health, infrastructure and creation of sustainable livelihood, among other things,” a company official said.
He added that under their CSR modules, they had separate programmes for women’s self-reliance, anti-liquor campaigns and empowerment against sexual harassment. “Our family planning camps have been remarkably successful,” the official pointed out.
He added that prior to the advent of Abhijeet Group in Latehar, the region was particularly bereft of all basic amenities.
“Look at the place today. It has good roads, proper electricity connections, Internet and a well-developed market place. The efforts of the company is to create a conducive environment to help the Naxalites return to the mainstream of society,” the official said.
He added that electricity has been a major boon for the villagers, who could now stay up till late. “Electricity has helped us connect Chakla to the world,” the official quipped.
Abhijeet Group currently employs more than 4,000 people, a majority of whom has been drawn from Chakla and Chandwa villages.
