Ranchi, Sept. 26: If you feel depressed and find things not going your way, it is perhaps time to get some positive chi (energy) around you to get life back on track.
The Feng Shui stall put up at the Expo has something for everyone who want to improve their present living conditions.
The stall, managed by Feng Shui teacher and consultant Indira Ghosh, has racks lined with “Laughing Buddhas”, “I-ching coins”, wind chimes, crystals and a variety of figurines and symbols which are supposed to bring money, prosperity and good health.
Ghosh, who was trained in Malaysia, is more interested in informing people about Feng Shui rather than selling her stuff. “The knowledge among people is meagre and they need to know the finer details. There are a lot of calculations that need to be done to get the optimum benefit of Feng Shui,” said Ghosh.
Laughing Buddhas are generally mistaken to be a showpiece item and people tend to place them wherever they like. Each Buddha is different from another. Their placing is also important, because they influence the energy around a person, said Ghosh.
“A Laughing Buddha on a crystal placed in the north eastern side is good for students. The crystal improves concentration and stops the mind from being distracted . Similarly a Buddha on a pedestal with water underneath and kept in the southern direction is good for people who are short-tempered,” added Ghosh.
Small bamboo shoots with roots are indicative of money, health and longetivity and should be kept in the southern part. “People buy wind chimes and other Feng Shui items from the market without knowing the productive and destructive cycles that the symbols influence, said Ghosh.
“The products on display are different from those available in the market. The symbols and wind chimes are expensive and only those who understand the concept of the ancient Chinese form of meandering energy from different sources will buy the items,” said a visitor at the expo.
