nThe outgoing batches of Classes X and XII who have just answered their board exams were treated to the most unusual farewell gift by the school. They were shown a documentary, “Ladakh — the land of mystery”, which has won awards at many national and international festivals. But the fun did not end there. The students got another bonus. They had a lively interactive session with Pragya Biyot Tripathy, the maker of the film.
Some described the film as breath taking with abundance of beautiful frames. The shot of River Indus — a shimmering white ribbon in the moon light, the shocking scene of the sorceress who bit a young boy — dracula style — to draw his blood and cure him were discussed at the session.
The students also put forth some questions to Tripathy about the making of the film, the difficulties she faced because of high altitude and climate. The director talked about the crew’s problems, their fear of being caught in a storm or avalanche. A big thanks to the school for the gift.

Hunt for genius
nThe search is on all over the nation. For India’s Smartest Kid. After an arduous process of short listing, 320 “bright young minds” will ultimately qualify and they will battle it out for that single prestigious title, “India’s Child Genius”.
For DBMS English School, there’s something to be definitely proud of. Altogether three Class VII students from the school have proved their mettle by qualifying for the mega contest. Debjyoti Banerjee, Mrinal Ranjan, Abhinandan Panigre are among those exceptional 320 students who will ultimately face the real challenge at Delhi.
“It’s a proud moment for both me and my school, to reach this level. I will try my best to proceed even further,” says Debjyoti.
For Mrinal, the excitement is mounting day by day. The students are leaving no stone unturned in their preparations and are ready for quiz master, Siddhartha Basu’s questions. The principal, teachers and students of DBMS wishes the trio best of luck.

Good going
nGrit and pragmatism are just the words to define Loyoleans. They proved this in their recent tryst with the engineering quiz organised by the Institute Of Engineers. Having been selected from among thousand teams, along with 37 other teams for the semi-finals on February 18, they proved their mettle even while the formidable final examinations were looming ahead.
The team comprising Aprajit Ranjan, Dheeman Bhattacharya, Shom Shankar Choudhary and Sourish Dey cruised past others along with four teams to the finals.
The prize distribution ceremony was held on February 20 at Tata Auditorium, where Governor Ved Prakash Marwah felicitated the winners. Although Loyola missed the top honours by a narrow margin they were much appreciated for their amicable attitude and competitive spirit.-
