Jamshedpur, July 6: Its Korea the next one month for three archers, including top-ranked player Jayanta Talukdar, as they set their target for gold in this year?s Asian Games.

Talukdar, Rahul Banerjee and Laxmi Rani Majhi will be visiting Gwangu (Korea) for about a month-long advanced training stint by Tata Steel. They will be leaving the country via Calcutta on July 8.

The three are cadets of the Tata Archery Academy (TAA) while Jayanta, who recently won gold at the World Cup at Porec in Croatia, is currently ranked fourth in the world.

He was handed over a cheque of Rs 1 lakh by Tata Steel managing director B. Muthuraman for achieving the feat.

Speaking at the felicitation ceremony of the archer, Muthuraman said the company would make serious efforts to make the archer the best in the world.

The decision to send Jayanta and two of his colleagues for advanced training in Korea is a result of promise made by the managing director. Officials of Tata Steel sports department said it is for the first time the company is sending the archers for advanced training.

?Last year, five archers Jayanta, Rahul, Laxmi, Mahamay Mihir Acharya and Amardeep Kerketta had been to Korea for normal training. But now things are different and the basic aim is to help the archers gain more exposure to the latest training techniques,? they added.

Jayanta, the country?s top-ranked archer, had earlier told this correspondent that he would like to stay put in the steel city to prepare for the Doha Asian Games, to be held this December.

While in Korea, Jayanta will train under coach Chae Woong Lim.

?He has earlier trained under Lim during the Korean?s periodical trips to Jamshedpur but this coaching stint in Korea is going to be a different matter. This will make his skills sharper. We are sure that Jayanta and the other archers will come back with a lot of new tricks in their armoury,? said a company official.
