Students of Kolhan University will receive their results by June 15 next year.
The decision was taken at an examination board meeting of the varsity chaired by vice chancellor Alok Goyal on Thursday. Goyal, who is also Kolhan commissioner, also interacted with officials on several matters related to the development of the varsity.
Pro-vice chancellor Shukla Mahanty and deans of various departments were present at the meeting.
At the meeting, the authorities were unanimous that results of both undergraduate and postgraduate courses should be declared by June 15. The move was taken as the delay in announcing results usually affected students’ chances of pursuing higher studies elsewhere and clinching jobs.
This year, results were declared in July.
“We had extensive discussions on a number of issues. We concluded that results must be declared on time. In 2012, we had announced it in the first week of June. This year, the delay happened because of a strike by non-teaching staff,” said Ganga Prasad Singh, controller of examinations of the varsity.
Goyal also met other officials to discuss a number of requirements, which include creating new posts and setting up a hi-tech library.
“We will send a detailed report to the vice chancellor. After he approves it, we will forward it to state HRD department,” said registrar D.N. Mahto.
The university also decided to announce a separate exam date for Part I students, who missed their subsidiary language paper on September 17. The varsity will soon decide a date for the students to submit application forms.
