Patna, July 28: A judge hearing criminal cases against Rashtriya Janata Dal MP Mohammad Shahabuddin has lodged a complaint with Patna High Court alleging that he received a threat call from one of the politician?s supporters.
In his complaint, special judge V.B. Gupta has named one Mahtab Alam as the person who called him on Wednesday to threaten him. Gupta is posted in Siwan to head the makeshift court at the district jail.
Alam alias Aftab is a lawyer based in Aurangabad, where Gupta had been posted earlier. Sources said Alam is said to have asked the judge to come to the ?rescue? of the MP and even offered some ?incentives? to him. A copy of the complaint has been sent to the Siwan district judge.
?When the judge refused the offer, Alam allegedly issued a threat, warning him of dire consequences,? a senior police officer said. The personal security of the judge has been beefed up.
