Ranchi, Nov. 22: The Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) has sent “reminders” to the three universities in the state — Ranchi University, Vinoba Bhave University and Sidho Kanho University — to furnish a current list of vacancies in the teaching posts.
JPSC chairman Dilip Prasad sent the varsities a missive to this regard after the first ever Jharkhand Eligibility Test (JET) was conducted on November 12 this year.
The cumulative number of vacancies at all three universities has been pegged at around 1,100, including posts of principal, lecturers, professors and readers.
The commission wants the details of the vacancies for the moderation committee to decide on the cut-off marks before it comes out with the result of the eligibility test.
“The committee would decide how many aspirants would clear the eligibility tests for which we need the specific vacancy details,” a top JPSC official said.
JPSC’s move has, however, might stir up a controversy about its authority to do the same. Officials of the commission though brushed it aside saying it’s only a reminder and a decision at the government level should be taken later.
Meanwhile, Ranchi University sources told The Telegraph that they have already identified the number of vacancies in their ranks. The university has 528 vacant posts for lecturers, while 51 and 40 posts are open for readers and professors, respectively.
Notably, this year, over 23, 000 aspirants appeared for the JET that offered 18 optional papers.
