Ranchi, May 6: Governor M. Rama Jois will be inducted as patron into the Bharat Scouts and Guides (BS&G) in Jharkhand.

National commissioner of the organisation L.M. Jain will administer the oath on the Raj Bhavan premises on May 21 in the presence of selected members of the organisation.

Two hundred scouts, guides, cubs and bulbuls from different schools of the capital will be present. About 30 scout trainers have also been invited. Cultural programmes highlighting the activities of the scouts have also been organised. Preparations for the event has started.

Joint state commissioner of the organisation Ramesh Pandey said the decision was taken after a meeting between sports and culture secretary N.N. Pandey and the Governor on May 2.

“The cultural secretary met Jois and briefed him about the activities of scouts in different parts of the country. The secretary requested the Governor to become a patron and he agreed, ” joint state commissioner of the organisation said.

“As a patron of Bharat Scouts and Guides, the Governor’s role will be that of a guardian. He will monitor the activities of the scout units and give his suggestions to officials associated with the organisation. Every state-level function will be presided over by him. No certificate will be issued to any scout without his signature,” he said. State commissioner of Bharat Scouts and Guides Srimohan Singh said the induction of the Governor will help promote the scout culture in the state.

“We have planned to promote scout activities in all schools in the state. This will not be possible without having a person in a high post as a patron. Induction of the Governor will help our members to spread the scouts and guides culture in every nook and corner of the state,” he said.
