Jamshedpur, Nov. 21: The loud cheer from the audience made it evident enough — Jharkhand Idol was a roaring success.

The semi-finalists gave their best to impress the show judges to make it to the final of this unique event being held by Sri Krishna Studios and Movies — the event organisers and a group dedicated to promoting young talents in Jharkhand.

The show’s semi-finals were held for two consecutive days, while the final took place this evening at Michael John auditorium.

The musical soiree had a fair share of everything. If peppy dance numbers found their way into the show, classics of yesteryears were not given a miss. Modern day songs were also performed by the finalist at the event.

“We gave them a lot of freedom today, as far as song choices and themes were concerned. We did not wish to restrict their views, because, to restrict them would be unfair — both for them and their creativity,” said K.K. Singh, the general secretary of Sri Krishna Studios and Movies.

The show, some six to seven years old, has already made its mark on the state’s cultural scene.

By investing on the winners (The agency cuts and promotes popular private albums with the show winners) the Jharkhand Idol organisers hope to involve a larger number of youngsters in the music scene and give them a good start and the right platform.

“On previous occasions we have only come out with albums of the show’s winners. But from this year onwards we have decided to try and provide a launch pad to a few more,” added secretary K.K. Singh while talking to the media.

If the soft melodies mesmerised the audience that had gathered at the auditorium, the dance numbers proved to be the ultimate entertainment as the crowd jived to the music.

Judged by the city’s musical experts, 10 youngsters divided in two categories performed.
