Teachers point to failures

Hazaribagh: Before the ?School Chale Abhiyan? starts across districts, teachers from government-run schools have started complaining about the dismal state of schools.

Limited classrooms and high number of students have forced Sultana Middle School?s management to refuse fresh admissions. While Pabra Middle School runs classes in two shifts as it has only five classrooms with more than 1,000-students.

As a government teacher, Manoj Kumar, said: ?When we lack classrooms, and schools are being forced to stop further admissions, in such a time how can anyone imagine success of any education campaign??

Minority demand

Ranchi: Jharkhand Pradesh Momin Conference will stage a demonstration to get government?s attention on various development works concerning minority communities.

Abid Ali, president of the Momin Conference, said they would request the government for an independent welfare department for the minorities.

Labour seminar

Ranchi: The youth cell of the Indian Confederation of Labour (ICL) will organise a seminar on ?Challenges and Solution of Youth and Labour? on April 22, at Satya Bharati.

The seminar will have ICL national president Ashok Bhattacharya and national general secretary Chander Singh Mehrat participating. The programme will be in collaboration with the World Solidarity Movement and the Brotherhood of Asian Trade Unions.

Training camp

Jamshedpur: Over 25 powerlifters (both men and women) have arrived in the city to participate in a training camp for the Asian meet to be held in Seoul, Korea, later this year.

The camp, which is being held at the JRD Tata Sports Complex, is being organised by the Indian Powerlifting Federation (IPF). The lifters were selected on the basis of their performance in various national meets held at different centres in the past year. The camp will conclude on April 28.

Cultural meet

Jamshedpur: JH Tarapore School held its annual function on Friday. A cultural programme and a prize distribution ceremony, where deserving students were awarded, were also part of the agenda.

Workshop

Jamshedpur: Samaj Vikas Kendra held a workshop on solid waste management at Burjidih village in Asanboni block. Another seminar on wormeries was also organised on the same day.
